Why this training was created
The educational programs developed by the Amen Clinics are widely recognized internationally and are followed by healthcare professionals from many countries.
However, these programs are primarily delivered in English.
The Brain Health Clinical Training was created to make this educational framework accessible to French-speaking and english speaking physicians while remaining faithful to the original teaching.
Its objective is not to replace academic education or clinical guidelines but to provide participants with an additional perspective on Brain Health.
The Amen Clinics
Founded by psychiatrist Dr. Daniel G. Amen, the Amen Clinics have dedicated more than thirty-five years to the clinical study of Brain Health.
Their educational model combines neuroscience, psychiatry, lifestyle medicine and functional brain SPECT imaging to explore the relationships between brain function, cognition, behavior and overall health.
Over the years, the Amen Clinics have built one of the world’s largest clinical databases of brain SPECT scans, representing several hundred thousand examinations performed in clinical practice.
This experience has supported the development of an educational program continuously updated through clinical experience and scientific advances.
Learning objectives
Participants will learn to:
- understand the foundations of Brain Health;
- explore interactions between brain function, cognition and behavior;
- understand the influence of sleep, nutrition, exercise and stress on brain function;
- discover the principles of functional brain SPECT imaging;
- understand the major functional brain patterns described within the Amen Clinics educational framework;
- critically evaluate the scientific evidence supporting this approach.
Program
The course is organized around the major educational themes developed by the Amen Clinics.
Topics include:
- Foundations of Brain Health
- Brain and cognition
- Lifestyle medicine
- Functional brain SPECT imaging
- Clinical applications
- Scientific limitations and interpretation
Scientific references
The program is primarily based on the educational framework developed by the Amen Clinics.
It is complemented by continuous scientific monitoring of publications and educational resources from Harvard Medical School, Columbia University, Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins Medicine and the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM®).
Participants are encouraged to critically interpret the available evidence and integrate new knowledge within their own clinical practice.
